My Trustees have instructed me not to recommend restorers because if we do so, and their work is not satisfactory, the Museum is blamed. I have a Machiavellian reply to a question such as yours, however. When I was Chairman of the State Art Commission and needed work done on the portraits in the State House, I employed the Oliver Brothers, 30 Ipswich Street, Boston, and never heard any complaint about their work.
