Insurance Art Claims
Oliver Brothers performs museum-quality restoration services on paintings, antique and contemporary picture frames, works on paper, icons, murals, gilded objects, and sculpture. It is important that you act sooner rather than later with artwork that is damaged by water, fire or smoke and soot.
Oliver Brothers is able to assist with all aspects of your insurance art claims regardless if your artwork is covered by a fine art insurance policy or under the contents portion of your homeowner’s or renter’s insurance policy. We will submit the proper documentation, help expedite the processing of your claim, and undertake the restoration if it is feasible to do so. We have been effective in helping countless homeowners with the daunting task of filing an insurance claim for their damaged artwork – many of whom didn’t realize they had coverage for their art. We have many years of experience and can help recover, restore and preserve art collections – both large and small – for private individuals, institutions and corporate clients.

ARTWORK DAMAGED BY WATER
Left untreated, water damage can provide a fertile breeding ground for mold and other toxins. Professional handling of art objects is important as most materials get weaker when wet. If left untreated, mold and toxins will continue to deteriorate artwork over time.
ARTWORK DAMAGED BY FIRE OR SMOKE
Smoke and soot damage needs to be addressed in a timely manner. Soot from a fire or a chimney puff-back should be tested and handled by a professional fine art restorer who will determine the best way to clean and restore smoke damaged paintings and other art objects without causing further damage. Proper handling and cleaning of an art object ensures that no further damage is done. For example, soot from a fire or chimney puff-back can easily be driven deeper into an art object if not cleaned properly. Improper restoration attempts can do more harm than good. Oliver Brothers has the experience you need to restore soot and smoke damaged paintings and other objects.

Thank you letter from the Society of Saint John the Evangelist
Dear Ms. Bishop,
Recently Oliver Brothers restored a number of precious icons which were damaged when our chapel in West Newbury caught fire. These icons have long been in our possession and they are very precious to us both as objects of devotion and for their inherent artistic value.
On behalf of the brothers of the Society of Saint John the Evangelist I want to take this opportunity to thank you and your staff and, in particular Mr. Peter Tysver, for the exquisite work he performed in lovingly restoring our icons. It was a joy to all of us to see the icons not only cleaned of smoke damage but brought back to a state of renewal that made it possible for us to see colors and details that we had never been able to see before.
Very truly yours,
Robert L’Espérance, SSJE

I am so pleased and grateful for the beautiful restoration of my paintings! Seeing them in their renewed condition gave me a great “lift” the like of which I have not often had since the fire.
