Art Conservation-Testemonial and Recommendation, Oliver Brothers art restoration, MFA Boston

G.H. Edgell, Director, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Massachusetts
November 13, 1951

November 13, 1951

Dear Madam,
My Trustees have instructed me not to recommend restorers because if we do so, and their work is not satisfactory, the Museum is blamed. I have a Machiavellian reply to a question such as yours, however. When I was Chairman of the State Art Commission and needed work done on the portraits in the State House, I employed the Oliver Brothers, 30 Ipswich Street, Boston, and never heard any complaint about their work.

Sincerely yours,
G.H. Edgell, Director.
